The NDAQ website has been designed for maximum accessibility. The following
features have been built in to allow as many people as possible, including
people with disabilities, to benefit from the information on the site.
Text size
Most internet browsers include a feature that gives you the ability to change
the size of the text on the screen. Users of NDAQ website can choose to re-size
the text that appears on each webpage, making the font size bigger or smaller
to suits their eyes. You can often change the text size by holding Ctrl on your
keyboard and rolling the wheel on your mouse. For other methods, see below.
Text alternatives to graphics and links
All images and links on the site are backed up by "alt tags". These text
alternative tags allow browsers to read a text description of the graphics or
links instead. Browsers that do not support images, and specialist browsers for
the blind, can read out the alt tags and let the visitor know what is
displayed. Some browsers will read the alt tags when the mouse is moved over
them.
Reader friendly
The use of white and grey background throughout the site, with plain black text,
makes reading easier on the eyes, and allows the reader to take in more
information.
Fewer graphics
We have chosen to use few images on the site, and those we do have are
relatively small. This allows pages to download quicker, even on slow
connections.
Compatibility
This site has been designed to be as compatible as possible with different
computers and web browsers. Where technology is used that may be incompatible
with certain set-ups, an alternative is provided for example Java script.
Web standards
The NDAQ site has been designed to conform to all relevant technical standards
and recommendations. Some of these are listed below.
